I have decided that i'll be taking an indefinite hiatus from blogging from this day onwards.

Why you might ask?

I don't know myself. Ill post the answer up once i've found it. In the meantime, let's start living.

What!??! Two Posts In A Day!?!?!

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

I actually found this from another blog and i decided that i'd like to share this with everyone out there!

"A man called Ahbeng owns a farm which can produce 10 apples every day.

He has 5 workers to operate the farm.

Each of them eats 1 apple daily and it is enough to keep them operating the farm normally.

The remaining 4 apples, the landlord sells them at RM10 each and he earns RM40.

He uses the RM25 to improve the farm operation and facilities.

He gives RM2.00 to each of his workers and he keeps the remaining RM5.00 as profit.

Day by day, the farm is well developed and all of the 5 workers are happy with the money they can save.

When Ahbeng passed away and there is a new landlord, Ahmad comes to continue the farm operation.

He says to the workers:" We need to improve the farm quality and redefine our way of thinking.

From now on all of you only need to pay RM1.00 for each apple you eat. It is very cheap as the price is RM10 each outside the farm."

The workers have no choice but to pay RM1.00 for the apple they eat daily. Their earning decrease from RM2.00 to M1.00 per person.

As usual, Ahmad sells the 4 apples and he gets RM40. He uses RM25 for farm improvement and pays RM10 to his 5 workers. He gets RM5.00 as profit. On top of that, he gets another RM5.00 from the apples that he sells to his workers. In total, he gets RM10 as profit every day.

Soon, the apple price increases to RM20 each. The new landlord gets a higher profit as he gets RM80 for the 4 apples he sells daily.

Then, he decides to give the farming improvement contract to one of his close friend, Sam. Sam says:"Apple cost naik, improvement cost also misti naik."

So, the farm improvement cost increases from RM25 to RM50. In actual fact, the improvement only cost RM30. The remaining RM20, Ahmad and Sam share evenly among themselves.

Let's calculate how much Ahmad gets daily:

RM10 (from farm improvement cost)
RM20 (Net profit by selling 4 apples: [Gross profit, RM80] - [Improvement
cost, RM50] - [Wages RM10] = RM20)
RM5 (from selling apples to his workers)

In total, Ahmad gets RM35 daily compare to RM10 initially when he takes over
the farm from Ahbeng.

His profit increases RM25 and the workers are still getting RM1.00 daily per

The greedy Ahmad does not want to stop there.

One day, he says to his fellow workers:" You see ah, the current market price for one apple is RM20 and you are only paying RM1.

See how lucky you are! I have to SUBSIDY RM19.00 for each of the apple you buy and total I need to SUBSIDY RM95.00.

This will greatly burden the farm and we might get bankrupt if we continue like this.

In order to avoid bankruptcy, I need to increase the apple price that you buy from RM1.00 to RM1.50 and I will bear the remaining RM18.50 per apple as my subsidy to you all. "

So, greedy Ahmad adds RM2.50 to his current profit and the number becomes RM37.50.

After you have read the story, I am sure you have already understood the meaning/concept of "SUBSIDY" given by the "U-no-hu"

The RM95 subsidy never existed in the first place and so was the RM52 billion fuel subsidy generously "given" by the "U-no-hu".

Cutting fuel subsidy is actually just a reason to steal money from your pocket."

And here's another simpler one.

" Ahmad is a fisherman. He sells a fish to you at $10 which is below the market value of $15.

Let's assume that he caught the fish from the abundance of the sea at little or no cost. Ahmad claims that since the market value of the fish is $15 and he sold you the fish for $10, he had subsidised you $5 and therefore made a loss of $5.

Question :
Did Ahmad actually make a profit of $10 or loss of $5 which he claimed is the subsidy?

Ahmad makes a profit of $10 which is the difference of the selling price ($10) minus the cost price ($0 since the fish was caught from the abundance of the sea). There is no subsidy as claimed by Ahmad"

I've Got Cramps On My Butt I Can't Hardly Walk

I would have posted this on Monday, but knowing Streamyx is as reliable as Air Asia being on time, streamyx decided to die on me... FOR TWO DAYS

So what better way to spend the eve of an exam you might ask? It's none other than joining 1 Utama's Ultimate Race! Ultima--WHAT? It's actually just like Amazing Race, but only in 1 Utama's New Wing and with lots and lots of young high school girls in hot short shorts.

Since i am not the sort of person who ditches studies for something fun, i planned ahead. I revised earlier than usual, which is one week prior to exams instead of the normal few days before, so by the time sunday arrived, i was prepared both mentally and physically for my exams and the RACE!!
The race was help at 1 utama and there were 116 teams who came, where each team consists of two person. Jeng actually registered a week earlier and he told me that at that moment there were only 9 groups registered. They were giving 11 prizes so we figured we have a good chance of winning. Or so we though. pbfft. Did i mention the first prize was 10 000 ringgit?!?!?!?!
Just like the amazing race, we had to run around with our given clue and figure out where is where is what and in the mean time do some simple challenges such as rock climbing, futsal, drinking Diet Coke, take a picture wearing googles and flippers, count the number of fishes and the number of shops and what not. the challenges were fine, but the crappy part is that the organizers purposely made all the points opposite of each other so at the end, i think i've ran more than 10km all over 1 utama.
It was fun and all and i really really had a great time plus, finally i've learned how to get my way around 1 utama because no matter how many times before this, i always get myself lost there. every time.

3 hours later the game ended and we were just 4 clues short. Yea you guessed it right. We didn't win. But it's not because we suck or n00b or incompetend but really the rock climbing challenge killed everyone. WHY? well there were 116 teams, and it takes arounf 5 minutes for each person to prepare and finish the challenge so in the end, the first team to arrive and the last team will have more than an hour lead. An hour extra time of finishing the game. I waited 30 minutes or so.

Other than just the 10 000 ringgit prize, 10 consolation prizes were also given, which was 1000 ringgit and some goodie bag. A bunch of high school girls got that prize. I didn't. Must be my jeans. I ran with jeans. They ran with short shorts. After sunday i had my exams on monday which turned out to be not as tough as i thought then tuesday had a one day boring class then came home i went WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
because ill be going down for practicals for three weeks which simply translates to 3 weeks of having nothing to study. yeah. any plans call me up!

I really do think that it is about time for me to update this blog with more than just a single sentenced post don't you think? I can't remember when i last did that but today i shall try my very best to go at it once again. No promises.

First and foremost, Yew Inn just left early this morning for the Land Down under to further whatever course he's taking (hotel management i think) and all i got to say is one thing ;Well it's about time Goddamnit!! I'm not being mean or anything but this guy's been telling us he's leaving ever since he started college! and that was like 3 years ago! First it was to Switzerland and his dream of being the greatest Tourguide in the world, then next thing i hear it was supposed to be New Zealand, a few hundred other choices after that and many months spents rotting at home he can finally say " i'm leaving. for real".

I'd write a whole post dedicated to him, talking about how i first met him, he's terrible choices in women and all about his secrets regarding two fingers as well his dirty secrets but i know he's not one of those guys who Blog-Hop regularly, so why waste electricity?

I've been having more classes as of late and even though time just seems to move slower than usual and even though me having adequate sleep still doesn't prevent me from feeling fatigued day by day, the things i learn has to be the coolest things you could ever learn about. I'm constantly amazed these aircraft engineers who design all of the complicated equipments and yet it is simple in construction or how the aircraft itself is actually built is just mind boggling.

One more week of classes and i'm back to practical and boy oh boy you can never know how great it feels to be back down in the hangars after a long time spent in classes, or how great it feels to be back in class after working for too long. You just have to be in my shoes one of these days. So nice. A break from your routine.

Moving on, i'm still pretty bummed over the fact that Death Cab For Cutie is heading over to Singapore instead of performing here this Augustand to make matters worse, it had to be on the 12th, just days before an exam, so further crush any hope of me ever going there. It's Death Cab for God's sake!! How often do you get good indie bands in KL? Like Never!!!! All you get is Pussycat Dolls, Missy Elliot, Daughtry, Avril, Linkin Park and what not but they're boring. Their songs are so manufactured and so mainstream that it lacks the passion that music is supposed to be about. It's like reading horoscopes, it somehow always applies to you when you read it, but it is just being general. Enough rantinglah.

So my conclusion for the day would be, All the best for Yew Inn and i hope he never forgets us malaysian friend and don't get too caught up with the australian white men's way of life. We're asians for crying out loud! Time to be very kiasu okay!
